Bev's Spicy Oatmeal Cookies

I just found a similar cookie recipe on AllRecipes.com and modified it with really good results. Your house will smell wonderful after you bake these.

Bev's Spicy Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1 1/8 cup Panella (brown sugar)
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup white flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp powdered ginger
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups rolled oats (or quick oats)
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chocolate chips (or 1 cup of either raisins or choc chips)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 F
2. Cream together the butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla until smooth.
3. Combine the flours, baking soda, spices, and salt. Stir into the butter mixture.
4. Stir in the oats and raisins/chocolate chips. The mixture will look dry and stiff.
5. Form small balls of dough and place onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Press flat. (They will stick to your fingers less if you keep your fingers moistened with water.)
6. Bake 9 minutes until light and golden on the edges. Do not overbake.
7. Let them cool for 2 minutes before moving to a cooling rack. Otherwise, they will break apart.
8. Store in an airtight container. (If they last long enough to need storage!)

Also, I just tried the Morrocan Tagine recipe I posted a while ago. It is really good! I may well make it at Magna Bay! Here is a pic of what it looked like. Both the kids and Ryan really liked this recipe.

Baked the cookies tonight. Forgot the oatmeal!! Everyone loved them anyways! oops.
good tip about the cooling period. They have a tendency to collapse!

D tasted the batter off the spatula and said, "MMMM! these taste like egg nog!"
It makes it smell like christmas!
